Tether devices use a Low Powered Wide Area Network (LPWAN) to connect to the Tether cloud. For any Tether device to communicate, network coverage is required. Please confirm that the physical address has sufficient network coverage by navigating to https://coverage.customer.thinxtra.com. The installation address should have at least “Average” coverage for deep indoor use. If this is not the case, then please let us know.
The Tether device can be installed by screwing in the backplate (screws included) or applying Hanging Strips (Not Included). Each Tether device weighs 350g so please ensure that if you use hanging strips, they can hold 1kg.
The Installation Process
Map out where you would like the Tether device installed. Tether devices are designed for wall mounting. The suggested height for wall mounting a Tether device is between 1.2m and 1.6m from the ground. This can be adjusted slightly to fit in with aesthetic requirements. Ensure that the device does not come into contact with direct sunlight, rain or severe weather conditions.
Secure the base plate to the area where the Tether device will be mounted. (The base plate should be secured vertically so that the Tether device slides down onto it. The Tether logo should be on the bottom right once installed). If you are securing the device with hanging strips then secure the hanging strips to the back of the base plate prior to installing.
Push and hold the reset button in until you see a light pink flashing light at the front of the device. Once you see the light colour change, release the button.
Open the Tether app on your mobile phone.
Login to the application using your username and password.
Add the property and the room that you wish to install the device in.
Once you have selected device location the camera opens scan the QR code on the back of the Tether device.
If the device reports on the property screen, then the device has been added successfully
